The day after Thanksgiving, we went to Mark's folks up by Springfield, Illinois. We had our family Christmas because they had so much bad weather last year that we didn't do Christmas until EASTER!!!

Pre School Thanksgiving Feast
The day before Thanksgiving, there was a feast of Pilgrims and Indians and Turkeys, at Wee Kare Pre School. It was really fun to go in and help with it.
Heidy's placemat!! I didn't let her eat on it because I wanted to keep it!!!
Aren't these the cutest turkeys you have ever seen???

Fall Leaf Fun
A couple of weeks ago, Heidy had asked her papa to make some leaf puddles for her to play in, He was confused... Leaf puddles??? She said yeah Papa leaf puddles. Mark was still like PUDDLES??? Heidy looked at me and said, What's that word mommy? I thought I knew what she meant so I replied, Piles? She said YEAH that's it piles, will you make me some leaf piles, Papa, to play in? and of course he did!!! He is a good daddy. We have so many fall leaves for the girls to have fun in. And this is sort of how it went.....
Getting it ready for the girls to romp and jump in!!

Like me? -- Another Heidyism
As some of you know, I really want to adopt a little girl from Ethiopia and we ARE praying about it. If we do, we would like to adopt a little girl close to Heidy's age.
Every day, Heidy prays for "my sissy from 'Afaca' named Eden". She will pray that her sissy isn't "crying for her mommy and daddy". She will pray that Eden has food. But most of all she prays Eden will come home. Heidy wants her to be age 3 or 4. We were cleaning up her room the other day and making beds and rearranging her closet (yes, to get all the clothes and shoes in!) She was helping and we were just talking, and she said, "Mommy, does my sissy in 'Afaca' have brown skin like me?" I said "Yes she does" Heidy started jumping up and down clapping and cheering, "YEAH!!!!" She really liked that fact!!
I just smiled.

Born in My Heart
Heidy knows she was born in Guatemala. Heidy knows she was born in my heart.
My friend Gina (Maci's mommy) was sitting with us at church the other night and she leaned over and told Heidy this song is about you! We started singing and came to the line in the song.... "You took this orphan in and placed me right in a family" Heidy says "Like me!" I said "Yes, like you". She then said, "I was born in your heart" I said "Yes you were" And she said, "Guatemala in there??" I started laughing and said "No sweet pea, Guatemala isn't in there" She is right in some ways, Guatemala will always have a piece of my heart because she was born there. She is a funny little girl and we are very blessed!!

Simon says.....
Tonight on the way home from church, we were taking a couple of the exchange students home. Heidy was playing Simon says with them in the back seat, and she was saying "Simon says to be quiet", we did. "Simon says to turn on the light" they did. "Simon says clap your hands" they would. She would tell us things her teacher at Pre school says when they play "Simon says". One of the guys said "Simon says to turn off the light" and he turned it off. Heidy didn't like that, so she said "JESUS said turn on the light!" We started laughing and they turned the light back on and I told Doris, our exchange student, who was up front with me, Heidy pulled out the big guns on that one!! She knows who rules!!

Heidy - Post surgery
This is the hardware they took out of Heidy's leg. It's not a great picture but you get the idea. The plate is about 2 1/2 inches long and the screws are between 3/4 and an inch long. Mark thinks it looks like a piece out of an erector set!!
Here she is the evening of her surgery at home. Trying to smile.
Look Mommy, I can walk!! She finally decided to put weight on it, she was scared to do that before. I don't blame her though, I would have been too. But once she decided, Oh I can walk she is walking all the time. She loves the Elmo balloon and this is a real smile!! Oh and notice the shirt???? "It's all about me, me, me!!" This week that is true, it has been all about her!! :-)
