Priceless......

Priceless...

You know you are an adoptive mother (or you should be!) if:

1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has ever made you lose sleep.
2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
4. The fact that if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child, there would be no orphans in the world is convicting to you.
5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about your adopted child's "real" parents.
7. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth (2 years!)
8. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway knowing where God calls you He will provide.
9. You have ever taken a airplane ride half way around the world with a child you just met.
10. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacy's you could ever leave on this earth.
12. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have them in your life.
13. You know what the word Dossier means and you can actually pronounce it!
14. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.
15. You know full well that the journey of your child coming into your family is one of the most wonderful, miraculous things that has ever happened to you.

Tumble Bears and "Tormados"

Heidy got promoted in gymnastics. It isn't "Mom and Tot" classes anymore. It is the "Tumble Bears" and I don't have to help!! I just get to watch. I love it!! We go on Tuesdays at 4:15 And tonight while we were there we had a tornado warning and the gals at the gymnastics told us and asked me if I thought we should get everyone in the inner bathroom. I said YES!! So we went in the bathroom for about 30 minutes!! It was cute though, she tried to make it fun until the power went off. She told the kids that we were going to party in the bathroom!!! We never saw a tornado, but I went outside (no, I'm not usually so brave) to see what was going on, there was hail on the cars and the clouds were terrible!! It was kind of scary!!! Afterwards the gal said, thanks for helping me, I sort of freaked out, I said it was fine I was a seasoned mom! (not old) I can understand why she did, having all the kids under her care! Thank God nothing happened, He is good! Heidy is telling everyone she sees that we had a "tormado".

Thursday Heidyism

Tonight at dinner, Skyler was playing with Heidy and saying she was going to get her and things like that, Heidy said "You can't get me, I have super powers." Mark asked "Heidy where did you get super powers?" Heidy politely said, "At the grocery store."

We cracked up!

Pay it Forward....

Becca sent this to me....

Here are the rules: I will send a handmade gift (of my choosing) to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this "PIF" exchange, and who make the same pledge on their own blog.

I haven't come up with what it is that I will send you AND you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within the next couple of months. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward - on your own blog. So, if you want to get a homemade goodie from me, and are willing to do the same via your blog, let me know!

Leave me your email address in your comments and I can get your snail mail address.

This will be fun I think!!!!

Heidyism for today

We went shopping last night as a family and out to eat. Skyler took a friend. After we had shopped all we were going to, we went to get in the vehicle in the 14 degree weather, brrrrrrr.

We were driving down the street a few minutes later and the vehicle had finally gotten warm, Rachel, Skyler's friend was talking to someone on the phone and they wanted to talk to Heidy. So they were talking and at the end of the conversation, she told Heidy "You are cool" and Heidy calmly said "nu uh, I not cool, I warm now."

She was right it was warm and toasty in the vehicle by then.

Another Heidyism

Our friends who adopted, Maci from China brought Heidy some squeaky shoes. Every step is "SQUEAK, SQUEAK". This morning we were straightening up her room and she got a pair out of the closet and put them on. They didn't match her outfit either. She loves hearing the "SQUEAK, SQUEAK".

After about 30 minutes of her "SQUEAK, SQUEAKing" I told her "Heidy take those shoes off please, they are driving me bananas."

She replied to me ...... "Mommy you are driving me apples and oranges!!"

That's my girl. Sassy like her momma!!

Heidy's baby

Heidy came up to me tonight and said "Mommy Mommy I have a baby in my tummy. Look!" And unzipped her jammies and wanted me to feel her tummy. I said, " Heidy that is great!" Then she said, "It's a girl, her name is Lisa!" She was so excited. Then she said "I have to go to the Doctor, Mommy, to let her get out. I be right back" " OK Heidy, Will you let me know when she gets out?" "Oh Yes Mommy!" So she went in the other room but on her way she said over her shoulder, "I be right back but Mommy I am just pretending" But she came back 30 seconds later, "Here she is mommy!!" With her hands cupped together like something was in there. She was all excited that she was holding Lisa!!

Where does she get this?

Under the Weather

This is what we did alot of!!

Heidy and I have been pretty sick!! Right before Christmas, she and I both got sinus infections and bronchitis. Well, she ended up with an ear infection too, and I ended up with laryngitis, asthma and almost pneumonia. We have had two rounds of antibiotics and other medicines and I hate medicine, but we needed it. Mark and Skyler were sick before we were with different things. I thought we were getting better and finally on the road to total wellness but today Heidy started coughing again!! Pray for her, please. I hope she isn't getting sick again!!

Her teacher told me tonight on the phone, that she had 10 children absent today!!!

I'm just glad that Mark is in Thailand to not be around it!! Not that we don't miss him because we do!! But I am glad he is having fun building a dormatory for a Christian college in Chaing Mai, Thailand. He will be home on the 18th.

Focus on the Family

Today on Focus on the Family the broadcast is about adoption. I listened to it and cried.....

http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Focus_on_the_Family/

After today put in the date or look for "Adoption - Families stepping out on Faith"

God has blessed us so much with Heidy, that I wish He would call everyone to adopt, but I know He doesn't. James Dobson says in his broadcast that if you aren't called to adopt then you should help someone who is. To me this is almost as rewarding.

Remember .... Adopting a child won't change the whole world, but for that one child, their whole world will change.
